Terms of Service

ACCEPTING THESE TERMS

Welcome to GymRank. These Terms of Service are an agreement between you and GymRank. By creating an account, posting a PR Clip, or posting any video, photo, or text, you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, please do not use the app.

GymRank is a local strength leaderboard. You log workouts, record personal records, and see how they stand against other lifters near you. Recording a clip is required to log a PR — a PR is created from the clip you upload, so there is no PR without one.

WHO CAN USE GYMRANK

You must be at least 13 years old to use GymRank, and old enough to agree to these terms where you live. You are responsible for what happens on your account, so keep your sign-in details to yourself.

ZERO TOLERANCE FOR OBJECTIONABLE CONTENT

GymRank has ZERO TOLERANCE for objectionable content and abusive users. You may not post content that is illegal, harassing, hateful, sexually explicit, or violent, or that targets, threatens, or demeans another person. You may not post content that is not yours to post, and you may not film another person without their agreement. Content that breaks these rules is removed.

YOUR CONTENT STAYS YOURS

You keep ownership of the clips and text you post. By posting them you give us permission to store them and to show them on the leaderboards and profiles inside GymRank, and on a share page if you choose to share a PR. That permission ends for new displays when you delete the content or your account.

REPORTING, BLOCKING AND DELETING

Every clip carries a Report control in its overflow menu, and the same menu lets you block the lifter who posted it. A blocked lifter can no longer reach you or see you in the app. Reporting is anonymous to the person reported. We rely on lifters to flag anything that crosses the line, and we act on what is flagged.

Your own PRs carry a Delete control in that same menu. Deleting one is permanent: your clip and that entry are deleted for good, and it cannot be undone.

HOW WE ACT ON REPORTS

We look at reported content and remove anything that breaks these terms — and we may remove the account that posted it — within 24 hours of the report. Serious cases are acted on sooner. We may remove content or an account at any time when these terms are broken.

LIFTING IS RISKY, AND THAT RISK IS YOURS

Training with weights can injure you, and attempting a maximal lift is one of the riskier things you can do in a gym. GymRank shows you leaderboards and scores, and seeing a number to beat is motivating on purpose. Do not let it talk you into a lift you are not ready for.

You use GymRank at your own risk, and you are responsible for deciding what is safe for you to attempt. Train with a spotter, within your ability, and stop when something hurts.

WE ARE NOT GIVING YOU MEDICAL OR COACHING ADVICE

Nothing in GymRank is medical advice, physiotherapy, diet advice, or coaching from a qualified professional. Scores, standards, rankings and any suggestion the app makes are generated automatically from numbers, by software that has never met you and knows nothing about your health, your injuries or your technique. Talk to a doctor before starting a new training programme, and especially if you have an injury or a health condition.

THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE", WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, WE DISCLAIM ALL IMPLIED WARRANTIES, INCLUDING THE IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE APP WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, SECURE, OR ERROR-FREE, THAT SCORES, STANDARDS OR RANKINGS WILL BE ACCURATE, OR THAT DATA WILL NOT BE LOST.

LIMITS ON WHAT WE OWE YOU

To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for injury, loss or damage arising from your use of GymRank, from anything another user posts, or from the app being unavailable or wrong. Some places do not allow limits like this, and where that is true, this section applies only as far as the law lets it. Nothing here limits our liability for anything the law says cannot be limited.

GOVERNING LAW

These terms are governed by the laws of Poland.

DELETING YOUR ACCOUNT

You can delete your account and its data from Settings at any time, in two deliberate taps. Deleting is permanent and cannot be undone: your account, your profile, every workout, personal record, league standing and title, your follows and blocks, and your notification settings are erased, and your PRs stop appearing on every leaderboard.

The video and image files of your clips are queued for deletion from our media storage before anything else is erased, and a background job clears them out soon afterwards. That part is not instant, and a large account can take a few rounds to work through. If our storage provider keeps refusing a file we stop retrying after a few attempts and keep a record that the file was not erased, so it can be dealt with by hand. CHANGES TO THESE TERMS

We may update these terms as GymRank changes. The current version always ships with the app and is shown in Settings, and continuing to use GymRank after an update means you accept the updated terms. Questions about anything here are welcome at gymranksupport@gmail.com.
